Hilma’s deepest effect was the strength of her ambiguous spirituality, which was the concept behind our design.
Based on extensive research, we found that verticality is the ideal representation of reaching the highest spiritual level, but we also needed to reflect on the fact that Hilma’s life long work has been a secret until recently, which we represented by concealing parts of the museum underground. That made the vertical element even more dominant.
